With new overtime regulations and rules associated with the Affordable Care Act — along with a host of other updates and changes — many business owners are spending more and more time on personnel issues and policies. Indeed, some florists are saying, “enough is enough.”
That’s essentially what happened at Freytag’s Florist in Austin, where Chad Freytag decided to hire an outside HR company last January to take over some of the more onerous tasks he would otherwise be juggling.
“I have mainly used them to redo my job descriptions, handbook, onboarding documents and review my employee files to make sure they are correct,” Freytag said. “I also have them to lean on if I have a tough situation come up.” (Think: disciplinary efforts and firing.) Find out more about how Freytag managed the transition, and get his tips on hiring (and pricing) for the service in the July issue of Floral Management magazine.
