On Monday, March 19, Hina Ahmed joined the Society of American Florists staff as membership specialist.
Since 2013, Ahmed has served as membership coordinator at the International Society on Thrombosis and Haemostasis, the professional organization for hematologists. There, Ahmed played a central role in improving the group’s membership efforts, said SAF COO Drew Gruenburg.
“Hina received a blank slate to do ‘whatever she thought best,’ and, by implementing her strategies and expertise, the Society’s ranks grew by 30 percent within four years.”
In her position, Ahmed also worked closely with the Society’s communications and meetings departments.
“Hina brings a strong track record of collaborating with other departments to get and keep members,” said Gruenburg. “We expect her to apply those skills to the team atmosphere we have here at SAF.”
In addition to her impressive results recruiting and retaining members, her well-rounded background set Ahmed apart from other candidates, Gruenburg explained.
Before joining the Society, Ahmed was a clinical trials assistant and project assistant at the Duke Clinical Research Institute, as well as a recruitment specialist for the American Cancer Society.
Ahmed received her bachelor’s degree from Meredith College in Raleigh, North Carolina, and her master’s in health administration from the University of North Carolina in Charlotte.
