Starting this month, Google is “marking” websites that aren’t using HTTPS, the secure protocol that encrypts communication between your browser and the site you’re visiting. In other words, if your website isn’t using secure protocol, the Chrome browser will show the site as not secure — which can hurt your rankings and deter customers.
The solution: If you have an e-commerce site, every page — not just the checkout page — should be using that same secure protocol.
Using HTTPS also prevents an impostor website from pretending to be your web site, protecting you from hackers who want to steal login credentials or capture customer cardholder data.
Finally, there is a public relations element: When you use HTTPS, you are letting your customers know you are serious about safeguarding their data.
You will have to contact your hosting provider or webmaster if your website is not using the secure protocol HTTPS.
